What are NILT’s responsibilities?

  • Supporting and promoting the internationalization process at UFSC, particularly in accordance with the Institutional Language Policy guidelines.
  • Facilitating institutional actions to establish a robust and sustainable multilingual foundation that enhances the internationalization of UFSC’s campuses, students, faculty, and staff. This includes offering courses and activities, such as Languages as a Medium of Instruction, and internal translation services.

Is the TOEFL administered at UFSC?
No. Mastertest Educational, the exclusive distributor of the TOEFL ITP in Brazil, offers the UFSC community a 40% discount on the Remote TOEFL ITP test (valid until 30 January 2024). Additionally, GCUB, in partnership with Educational Testing Service (ETS), provides a monthly voucher with a 15% discount for the TOEFL iBT exam.

Are other proficiency tests administered at UFSC?
Yes. The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures (DLLE/UFSC) offers two proficiency tests: the Reading Proficiency Test (EPLE) and the Proficiency Test for International Purposes (EPEx).
