1- Why take a proficiency test?

When applying for an exchange program, most foreign universities require a proof of proficiency in the language of instruction*.

*To verify which proficiency tests are accepted, please contact the host institution.

2 – What are the main proficiency tests?

English:

• TOEFL (click here for a 10% discount in the TOEFL iBT e TOEFL iBT Home tests);
• IELTS;
• Cambridge – CAE or CPE.

Spanish:

• DELE (click here for a 25% discount in the DELE proficiency test and further benefits).

French:

• DALF;
• DELF.

German:

• onDaF.

Portuguese (for foreigners):

• Celpe-Bras.

In case the host university accepts a certificate of proficiency provided by UFSC, the university offers the Proficiency Test for International Purposes (Exame de Proficiência para o Exterior – EPEx) through its Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures (DLLE).
